John Harry Benner, 81, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022.  John was born in Calais on April 15, 1941, son of Raymond and Velma (Allen) Benner.

John was an active member of St. Croix Lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M. in Calais, St. Croix Royal Arch Chapter No. 17, St. Croix Council No. 11, Hugh de Payens Commandery No. 15, Anah Temple Shriners, and Orion Chapter No. 45 O.E.S.  John was a long-time faithful member of the Second Baptist Church in Calais.  He loved history and could often be found researching in the Calais Free Library where he was a volunteer.  John was one of the local and world historians in the area.  John will be remembered by his friends for his gentle and caring ways. 

In addition to his parents Raymond and Velma, John was predeceased by his sister Claire.  John is survived by his friends at the Second Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
