Joan Marie Stuart Sullivan was born September 23, 1927, and passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on March 27, 2024. 

She lived with her parents Arthur and Lenora Porter on Campobello Island, attended grade school there and later transitioned to Eastport in 1939. When Joan went into grade 7 they moved her ahead to the 8^th. She graduated from Shead Memorial H.S. in June of 1944 at age 16. Joan went to Portland with her friend Barbara Matthews and worked for 2 years. She came home July 4, 1946, met Arthur Stuart and six weeks later they married on September 10^th. They were blessed with two children; Paula and her husband Skipper, and Paul. 

Joan worked many retail jobs for 42 years, joined Seaside Temple #59 and was a Pythian Sister for 70 years. Joan was married to Artie for 28 years until he passed. She has 2 grandchildren; Bethany and husband Mark Gilliam of Maine and great grandchildren; Thayer Sherman and Blaise Vachon. Benjamin and wife Elizabeth Frankland of Florida and great grandchildren; Madelyn and Arthur. Joan married Ralph Sullivan on January 12, 1978, and moved with him to Rumford for 6 years until he retired. They were married 37 years until he passed. Joan is also survived by Step-children; Dennis Sullivan of Thailand and Lisa Werner of Massachusetts and grandchildren Kathleen and Mike Shearer and Daniel and Val Werner.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Bayside Cemetery in Eastport.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
