It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Jeff has passed away after fighting a long battle with heart and kidney disease. This has brought immense sadness to all of us who knew and loved him as a friend, neighbor, uncle, brother, father, and husband. We will miss him infinitely. Jeff was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.
He was born in Houlton and raised in Calais and is a true Downeast boy, learning to drive his father's truck at the young age of 12 years old when his dad would let him drive while collecting his paper route money. His childhood was filled with the adventures of rural life, learning the values that would shape him into the person he became. Jeff found immense joy in driving trucks and riding his Harley, where the camaraderie and shared adventures brought numerous funny and memorable experiences to his life.
Jeff spent years working on constructions sites throughout New England. He married Heather on August 16th, 1996, and they spent many beautiful years together. Jeff treasured precious moments with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had an appreciation for great music, especially classic rock and could effortlessly recount the title/artist of any song - a talent he also passed on to his daughter, Kassi.
Jeff was a man whose personality and infectious smirk touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a simple man who valued the simple things in life. But Jeff was not just a man; he was a living, breathing source of inspiration to all that knew him. He put up a courageous fight right up until the end and passed peacefully in his wife’s arms with his sons at his side.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents Donald and Christine Gidney, and his daughter Kassadi Gidney. He is survived by his wife Heather Gidney of Calais; two sons Zacch Gidney and wife Justina of Lebanon, and Dylan Gidney of Calais; sister Sue and husband Kurt Reiman of CT; grandchildren Haileigh Gidney, Masen Gidney and Maverick Gidney.
