Obituary

Jeffrey Alden Cole, 69, of Maine, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Born on September 19, 1956, in Calais, Jeffrey was the cherished son of Donald Cole Sr. and Doris (O'Neill) Cole. Awaiting him are his siblings Michael Cole and Mary Jean Woodruff as well as his beloved dog, Lady, and his lifelong best friend, Fred Lawless.

A proud graduate of Calais High School, Jeff began his illustrious career as a chef with the Merchant Marines before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he showcased his culinary talent aboard the USS Waddell DDG-24, forging a bond with the Navy that would remain with him for life. Following his honorable service, he took his skills to Reno, Nevada, where he worked in various Michelin Star restaurants and earned the distinct honor of being invited to serve as a chef at the White House.

After years of hard work and dedication to his craft, Jeff returned to his roots in Maine, where he delighted in the simple pleasures of life, sharing stories of his travels and experiences over home-cooked meals.

Jeff's legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his three sons: Michael Cole and wife Andrea Holmes, William Cole, and Peter Cole and companion Madeleine Laurent; his beloved granddaughter, Lily-Anne; his brother, Donald Cole and wife Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Jeff's wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, family and friends are invited to reflect on his life and share their fondest memories and photos at www.MaysFuneralHome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
