It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey W. Cochran, age 64 on August 21, 2026. Jeff was truly a remarkable man, devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. Jeff was proud to carry on his family's tradition of being a Maine Guide. Jeff always enjoyed guiding for Wheaton's Lodge and Leen's Lodge and was a member of the Grand Lake Stream Guide's Association. Jeff was a Masonic member of the former Lewey's Island Lodge #138 AF & AM in Princeton, now St. Croix Lodge #46 AF & AM.

He was born in Calais, Maine on December 7, 1961 to Lyman and Kathleen (Bagley) Cochran. Jeff had endless stories and memories of growing up in Codyville with his brother, sisters and childhood friends. Jeff was an alumni of Lee Academy class of 1981, and graduated from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1983 with a degree in electrical construction. In November of 1983, Jeff began a 30 plus year career at Georgia Pacific as a papermaker. On June 21, 1986, he married the love of his life, Terry Noyes, beginning a marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless memories. Together, they built a home on the Snigdom Road that he cherished deeply. It was more than just a house to him, It was a place filled with love, family, laughter, and memories that he held close to his heart. One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming a father to Thomas and Taylor and a grandfather to Ava and Ellis. He was always by their side and supportive of them, whether playing sports, bass fishing, bear hunting, or just family adventures. He was overjoyed to include his son in law, Brent as part of the family.

Jeff was a man who believed in the importance of family, friendship, hard work, and helping others. As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend he was loving, caring, and always there when his family needed him. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. His family was his greatest treasure, and he leaves behind a legacy of memories, lessons, and love that will live on for generations.

He found some of his greatest joy in the outdoors with his family and hunting friends by his side. Whether running dogs on The Burn, bird hunting in the fall, fishing the many brooks, streams, and lakes of Maine, he was happiest outside. He truly enjoyed passing on his love of the Maine outdoors with the many people he was fortunate enough to guide over the years. Helping create experiences and memories for them that will never be forgotten. If you were lucky enough to spend any time in his Grand Laker or under a bear tree you probably heard "Boy, that's a cock-ah!"

Those who knew him will remember his strength, his wisdom, his sense of humor, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Most of all, people will remember his laugh. It was a laugh that could fill a room, bring a smile to those around him, and become part of the memories people will carry with them forever.

He was the kind of man whose presence made a difference, a man who led by example and left every person he touched with a memory to cherish.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Lyman & Kay, grandparents, Hazen & Marion Bagley, grandmother Lizzie Cochran, aunt MaryLou Thornton, uncle George Bagley, uncle Harold Cochran, uncle Clyde Cochran, sister-inlaw, Donna Cochran, Brother in-law, Shawn Donahue, cousins Brian, Hal, & Randy and in-laws, Lloyd & Rachel Noyes.

He is survived by his wife Terry, his son, Thomas Cochran, daughter, Taylor Byers and her husband Brent Byers, granddaughter Ava and grandson Ellis. Brother, Mitchell Cochran, sister, Betty Mae and Robert Phelps, sister Darlene Donahue. Nieces and nephews Courtney (Scott), Tyler, Ryan(Mikayla), Jalen(Sarah), Nathan(Jessica), Teagan, Shawn and all of their families. Uncle, Irman Thornton & family, Cochran cousins from Connecticut, Jay & Tammy McLellan and family, Doug & Dama Apperson, The Auen Families, Roddie & Claudia McLellan & family, Harold & Linda Hollifield and family, Kenny Etheridge & Carl Sloan, Joe, Ramona & Joseph Bowen, Pat & Brenda Flowers and family.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, family, friends, bear hunting buddies, Masonic brothers, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

May he rest peacefully, with the woods and waters he loved, forever carrying on his memory.

A Graveside service will be held at Hunnewell Acres In Topsfield, Maine on Saturday, August 29th, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
