Jason Cartier Scott, born May 25, 1972, passed away on Monday July 27th, surrounded by his loving family, after an eight-year courageous battle with cancer.

Jason lived in Maine for the majority of his life, with the exception of a year in Virginia and four years spent in New Jersey before returning home to Maine, where he remained rooted in family, friends, and the life he built.

Jason was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, nephew and friend. He will be remembered for his strength, stubbornness, calm presence, and laid-back nature. He had a quiet way about him, but those who knew him understood the depth of his love and loyalty.

Jason worked as a General Manager at U-Haul in Waterville, Maine, for three years. Prior to that, he worked in different construction jobs, alongside his Uncle Gerald building homes, worked as a laborer, and served as a firefighter in Winslow, Maine in 1998-1999.

Above all else, Jason loved his children and grandchildren deeply, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He shared a love for music and spending time relaxing with friends and family.

Jason is survived by the love of his life for 33 years, Patricia (Johnson) Scott; his daughter Whitney Scott-Escorcia and husband Juan Escorcia, his grandson Josiah (his buddy), his granddaughter Jianna (Papa's baby girl), his daughter Kayla Scott and partner Noah Paytas, his granddaughter RaeLynn (Papa's Girl), his bonus granddaughter Maribel, and his "adoptive son " Zack Costello.

He is also survived by his step-father, Dale Newell; step-mother Tonya Scott; Godfather, Gordon Newell; his sisters Angela Guay and husband Neil Guay, Alicia Wilhelm, and Kellie Scott; step-brother Dale Newell II and wife Heidi Newell; father- and mother-in-law Wayne and Anita Johnson; sister- and brother-in-laws Michelle and Thomas Sepulvado, Wendy and Steven Candelmo, and Mary Johnson; his Uncles Melvin Perry and partner Marna Wilson, Gerald and Annette Perry, his Aunt Betty Libby and partner Bob Sweigard; many close nieces and nephews, his childhood best friend Edmund Tomah, as well as many other close friends and cousins.

Jason was predeceased by his father Durward Scott; mother Linda (Perry) Newell; step-mother Brenda (McLaughlin) Scott; brothers Kevin Scott and Stephen Newell; Uncle Gerard Perry; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jason will be remembered by all who knew him for the strength he showed throughout his illness and his unwavering determination to never give up the fight. The love and memories he leaves behind will allow his spirit to live on through those who carry him in their hearts.

Jason made it known that it was deeply important to him to be brought home to the Passamaquoddy Reservation in Princeton, where he was raised for most of his life, which remained a source of identity, belonging, and connection throughout his life. A Home Wake will be held at the residence of his step-father, Dale Newell at 66 US Route 1, Indian Township from 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026 until Friday, 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2026 at St. Ann Church, Peter Dana Point Rd, Indian Township, ME 04668.
