Janice Marie (Lyons) Wilcox passed away on January 6, 2025 after a short illness; she was 93. She was born on 17 October 1931 at her home on Straight Bay Road to Rena (Andrews) and Ezra "Ray" Lyons.
She grew up in a large family and attended the local Straight Bay one-room school. She went on to have a large family of her own with seven children. As well as being a very busy mom and homemaker, she worked tirelessly in the hayfields and blueberry fields. She loved her West Lubec Methodist Church and participated in the monthly bean suppers for decades. She enjoyed snowmobiling and sold hotdogs for the snowmobile club for many years during the Lubec 4th of July festivities. She loved the great outdoors and at age 89 canoed upriver and hiked a glacier in Alaska.
She is survived by her children Gerald, Jeffrey, Ricky, Belinda (Ashworth), Barbara (Buschor) and Kevin, along with 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, son Toby, and siblings Leona (Denbow), Ramona (Mahar), Jetta (Denbow), Kenneth and Orrin (Bobby). She was also predeceased by half-siblings Maxwell, Orland, Farrell, Phylina (Preston) and Maxine (Gellespie), and very special niece Maxine (Simonson).
