James D. Perley Jr.

Indian Township – James Donald Perley Jr., 37, passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2020 at his home. Jimmy was born to James and Cindy Perley on January 19, 1983 in Bangor. He attended grade school at Indian Township and graduated from Calais High School, Class of 2001.

Jimmy was joyful, gentle and had a great respect for life and nature. He loved fishing, boating, hunting, and exploring nature. He jumped at any opportunity to go camping or to hang out at a bonfire, especially with his brother and his friends. Jim was proud to be Passamaquoddy, he loved his culture and was driven to stay connected with his traditions but above all, spending time with his family was most important to Jim. Jimmy loved the outdoors and enjoyed four-wheeling, and basketball and football (a loyal Raiders Fan).

Jimmy was predeceased by his grandparents, Wayne & Marymae Larrabee and Simon & Edna Perley; two special cousins, Anthony Best and Jesse Boston and many aunts and uncles.

He will be remembered by his parents, James and Cindy Perley; brother, Bob Perley; sisters Angela Hood and Tammy Hood; his canine “brother”, Si; nephews, Evan, Cai and Eric Plaisted, two aunts, Vicki and Sylvia Sockabasin, all of Indian Township; uncles Kenneth Perley and his wife Judy and Michael Perley and his wife Priscilla; his uncle and Godfather, John Perley, all of Canada; Godmother, Linda Cropley; many cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends, Chad Sockabasin and his companion Stephanie Bailey, Richard Sabbatus and his wife Tina, Tom Hood, Henry Sockabasin and his wife Milli, Jason Levesque, Keith Levesque, Jack Downing, Wendall Perley, Everett Polches, Glenn Sockabasin, Tom Libby, Michael Best, Dave Goulet, Donald Boston, Roy Dana, and many more from both childhood and those close to him today.

Visitation will be held for immediate friends, family and community members at St. Ann’s Church Parish Hall, Peter Dana Point Road, Indian Township beginning at noon on Wednesday, September 23rd until Thursday at 1:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 24th at an outdoor location near the church, committal will follow at Indian Township Tribal Cemetery. Attendees are asked to please follow Covid-19 prevention regulations with social distancing and the use of face coverings. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
