With a heart full of sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of James E. Carr, 57, on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Born on February 11, 1967, in Albany, New York, James was the cherished son of Robert and Catherine (Best) Carr. Known as Jim to friends and family, he radiated a vibrant spirit of adventure and an unwavering love for nature that touched the hearts of many.
Jim attended Montgomery High School in Montgomery, New Jersey and Somerset County Vocational Institute where he earned the Don Vetter Memorial Award for excellence in electrical study. His skills led him to a fulfilling career as an electrician with IBEW Local 269. His hands were never idle, often undertaking carpentry projects that showcased his meticulous attention to detail. Jim's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing and hunting, and his compassion for animals was deeply ingrained in his soul. He had a particular fondness for the many German Shepherds he raised over the years. Upon retirement, Jim realized a lifelong dream of relocating to the serene surroundings of Grand Lake Stream, Maine, a place that held a special place in his heart since his childhood summers.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. He is survived by his daughter, Gillian Carr and her husband Devin Hems of New Hope, PA; his sister Barbara Carr of Flemington, NJ; Gillian's mother Elsa Santoro; and his beloved feline companion, Kuro. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Robert and Catherine Carr, and his cherished German Shepherds.
Arrangements are being handled by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Though there will be no formal services per Jim's wishes, we encourage all who knew and loved him to share cherished memories, photos, and kind words on his memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com.
