Obituary for Howard R Clement

Pembroke – Howard “Tubby” R. Clement, 91, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at a Machias hospital. Howard was born in Eastport, November 14, 1914, son of the late William and Annie (Lee) Clement. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. Tubby retired from the railroad, and was a member of the Railroad Clerks Union. He was also a member of Crescent Lodge No. 78 A.F. & A.M. in Eastport and was Past Patron of Pennaquan Chapter of the Eastern Star, past member of the Grange, and a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Eastport. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bird watching, spending many hours mowing the lawn, and teaching the knack of pool shooting to his granddaughter Rhonda. He was predeceased by a son, Robert “Bobby” Clement, a granddaughter, Bonnie Jean Beal, a brother, Robert Clement, and a sister, Jane Cook. Surviving are his loving wife of over 70 years, Elsie M. (Sutherland) Clement; two sons, Philip Clement and wife Carolyn and Howard Clement Jr. and wife Teresa; four granddaughters, Karen McPhail and husband Jack, Rhonda Brady and husband Scott, Sherry Ramsdell and husband Steve, and Pamela Picard and husband Gerry; great-grandchildren, Christopher Clement and his son Christopher II, Marc Beal and wife Judy and their son Matthew, Nichole, Matthew, Jessica, Chelsea, Tiffany, Kaitlin, and Michael; a brother-in-law, Stanley Stoddard of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, June 1, at Christ Episcopal Church, 21 Key St. in Eastport with Father David Sivret officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Pembroke.
