Obituary for Helen Louise Chute (Garnett)

Campobello, N.B. & Lubec – Helen Louise (Garnett) Chute passed away October 27, 2016. Helen was born May 27, 1930, in Lubec, Maine, the daughter of John and Lillian (Mahlman) Garnett. She married Lewis H. Chute and moved to Campobello Island where she lived her adult life. The last few years she resided at the Campobello Lodge and we thank the staff for her excellent care.

Helen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lewis; her daughter, Ethel McCullough; and a sister, Edith Gardner. She is survived by two sons, Garnett and his wife JoEllen of Hermon, and Craig and his wife Marie of Lubec; a son-in-law, Martin McCullough, his wife, Kelli and their children, Sara and Mae of Lake Utopia, NB. Helen was blessed with four grandchildren, Lee and his wife Fran of Bangor, Laurie of Hermon, Cherie of Lubec, and Heather and her husband Billy of Lubec; three great grandsons, Nathan, Braeden and Noah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She had fond memories of the Carnes family visiting from the Chicago area.

Funeral services will be held on 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, at Ridge Baptist Church in Lubec with Pastor Antonio Muniz officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Edith Lank Camp, Campobello Lodge Resident Council, or a charity of one’s choice.
