Harvey Edward Day, 80, of Vanceboro, Maine, passed away of natural causes on July 10, 2026, while spending time with family and friends at Palfrey Lake in McAdam, New Brunswick, Canada.
Born in St. Croix, Canada, Harvey grew up surrounded by the outdoors he would cherish throughout his life-waters to fish, woods to explorer, and a community that shaped his generous spirit.
Harvey proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong commitment to supporting fellow veterans. His dedication to veterans continued throughout his life. Harvey was deeply involved in supporting local veterans and played a key role in planning and building the Veteran's Memorial in Vanceboro, Maine, a project that reflects his enduring respect for service and his desire to honor those who served alongside him. Harvey was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to help anyone who needed it.
Harvey is survived by his four children-Tonya, Craig, Chris, and Kelly-and his three grandchildren, Kannon, Aidan, and Henry, who brought him immense joy and of whom he was very proud. He is also survived by his ex‑wife Patricia, his sisters Donna and Laura, and his brothers Calvert, Allan, Lynn, and Leslie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Geraldine and Calvert, and his brother David. Harvey will also be dearly missed by his faithful dog and sidekick, Reilly.
Harvey was a man who lived life with humor, warmth, and a competitive spark. He loved spending time with family and friends, telling stories, playing cards, fishing, and boating. He had a natural ability to talk to anyone-whether a lifelong friend or a stranger he met that day.
Known for his jocularity, his "always right" confidence, and his big heart, Harvey was the kind of person who showed up when people needed him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and connection to those around him.
Harvey's legacy is one of service, generosity, and love. His devotion to veterans, his commitment to community, and his unwavering support for family and friends will always be remembered.
Harvey will be missed by all who knew him.
