It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Eugene Preston, age 61, who left this world on July 28, 2026, after a brave battle with cancer. Harold was born on March 31, 1965, in Franklin, New Hampshire, to Stephen and Mildred (Dinsmore) Preston. He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for his family, and his passion for the great outdoors.

Harold proudly graduated from Shead High School in 1984 and embarked on a career in construction with Dicenzo's Construction before joining the Maine Department of Transportation in 1988. Over nearly three decades, he dedicated himself to bridge maintenance, an occupation that he greatly enjoyed until his retirement in 2016. On August 6, 1988, he married his lifelong love, Julie Ramsdell, and together they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories.

Harold had a deep appreciation for nature, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and kayaking, or simply relaxing with a cold Busch Light in hand. However, his greatest pride came from his family. He is deeply missed by his beloved wife, Julie; their children, Kara Schmitter and husband Shawn, Danielle Preston, and Nicholas Coy; and his treasured grandchildren, Rylee, Hailey, Shawn, and Addy. Harold is also survived by his devoted mother, Mildred Preston; brothers Stephen Preston and wife Linda, and John Preston and wife Mikki; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Mike Chaffey and Jeff Griffin; beloved uncle Dennis Preston; and his faithful canine companion Max.

He was predeceased by his father Stephen Preston SR; brother Hardy Preston; granddaughter Adaysia Read; and great granddaughter Kinsley. 

To honor Harold's life, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Dennysville Cemetery.
