Gwen M. Nystrom

Gwen Marie Nystrom Day 46, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Calais, Maine October 15th, 2022. Gwen was born in Machias, Maine, November 2, 1975, to Carl Nystrom and Sandra Winchester Nystrom. Gwen graduated from Washington Academy in 1994. Gwen attended Washington County Community College taking Secretarial studies. She always wanted to be a beautician as she loved cutting hair, but it wasn’t in the cards for her. She would cut anyone's hair that wanted her to. Gwen was with her son's father David Lund of Pembroke, Maine for almost 20 years. Gwen married John Day Sept. 2019. Gwen had many jobs, as a teenager she packed fish at a plant in Lubec Maine, raked blueberries for many years. She worked at the Crossroads restaurant in Pembroke as a waitress, Johnson's Shell in Pembroke, Maine The Wickachee in Calais, Maine as a waitress, Kuang Wah in Calais Maine as a waitress, The label shopper in Calais Maine She made beautiful wreaths for many years. The IGA in Calais, Maine. Telemarketer for many years. Her last job was working at the front desk at the Calais Motor Inn, she loved her job there as she was a people person. Gwen loved the color purple, she collected pigs, and SHE LOVED SHOES!!! 

Gwen was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family so very much. She enjoyed watching her boys play sports, spending time with her family, gardening, house plants, shopping and decorating for the holidays. She especially loved Halloween. She was a giver as she would give anyone anything they wanted or needed.

Her life will forever be cherished by her mother Sandra Nystrom of Pembroke, Maine husband John Day of Calais, Maine Her children, Son Jacob Lund and companion Victoria Boone of Pembroke, Maine and their children Gwen’s grandchildren Ryder James Lund and Ryley Jacob Lund. Son, Nathan Lund of Machias, Maine and Son, Kyle Lund of Pembroke, Maine. Two brothers Shawn Nystrom and companion Kimberly Chabak of Princeton, Maine and Tyler Nystrom and wife Clair of West Branch, Michigan. Her nieces and nephews India Lane of Calais, Maine, Carl Nystrom, and Izabella Nystrom. Diana and Rosalind Nystrom from West Branch, Michigan. Great niece and nephew Nora Morrison and Myles Lane from Calais, Maine. Her beloved dog Kane, Her family at the Calais Motor Inn, Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many many friends.

Gwen was predeceased by her father Carl William Nystrom, her grandparents Lloyd " Pilly" Sr. and Emma Winchester and William “Bill” Nystrom and Elizabeth “Betty” Nystrom.
