Gregory S. Newcomb, born August 20, 1949, passed away February 3rd , 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of Verna (Sturk) Newcomb and John Robert Newcomb.
Greg graduated from Shead High School in Eastport and Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. After college he operated his own building construction business until he went to work for the Post Office in Perry as a rural letter carrier for 35 years. In 1971, Greg married the love of his life, Louise (Burr). Together, they shared 54 years of marriage, raising a beautiful family. Over the years they operated Newcomb's Gun and Saddle Shop in Perry. Greg was active in the community and served on the planning board, and board of appeals for several years; he was also on the board of directors of the Perry Farmers Union, serving as the chairman. Above all else Greg was a family man. He was the best "Papa" around, finding his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren. Greg was an avid outdoorsman and registered Maine Guide, who enjoyed sharing his knowledge of hunting, fishing, and farming with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Louise (Burr) Newcomb; his children William Newcomb and his wife Anabel; Ivy Turner and her husband John; Anne Bitar and her husband Nick; John Newcomb and his wife Erin; his cherished grandchildren, Madilyn, Ashlyn, J.D., Olivia, Libby, Katie, Charlie, Jack and Emma; his loving sister Debby Newcomb; brother in law Bob Burr and wife Mary and special friends John and Linda Kinney. Greg will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering love for his family.
