Grace Blanche Johnson passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Calais Community Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. She was born on December 27, 1935, to Ralph and Geraldine (Oliver) Collins of Eastport, Maine.
Growing up, Grace attended Eastport schools. She married Seth Johnson on February 12, 1953, while he was home on leave during the Korean War. When he returned, they settled in Perry and together raised six children. In addition to raising a family, Grace worked many jobs in Downeast Maine. She worked in the sardine factories in Eastport and then Lubec as a floor manager, retiring to care for her husband. After his death in 2001, she then cared for others as a senior companion until the age of 78. She was a member of the North Perry United Methodist Church.
Grace lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Growing up in Eastport shaped her hardworking spirit and her deep appreciation for family and community. Those who knew Grace will remember her for her open heart, her strong sense of humor, and the countless ways she made others laugh and feel cared for. Whether she was in the kitchen, tending a garden, or sharing stories, Grace created a sense of home wherever she went.
Grace was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Seth; her son-in-law, Frank Seeley; her daughter-in-law, Nancy; and her sister, Marie Brackett. She is survived by her six children, Seth Johnson Jr. of Perry; David (Betty) Johnson of Perry; Stephen (Janet) Johnson of Baileyville; Fred Johnson; daughter, Phyllis Seeley; and youngest son, Robert Johnson, all of Perry; two brothers, Fred Collins of Saco, Maine; and Ralph Collins of Worcester, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her grandchildren- Aaron, Jenny, Amy, Stacy, Tracy, Jeff, Patty, Stephen, Shaele, Katie, and Robbie. She leaves behind a legacy of 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home and Calais Community Hospital for the compassionate care and love she received while there.
