Gloria Eileen Smith, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Calais Community Hospital. Gloria was born in Woodland on January 16, 1931 Daughter of Arthur ‘Bunt’ and Lillian Gaddis (Johnston).

Gloria graduated from Woodland High School, class of 1948 and moved to Lincoln to work as a waitress, while waiting tables at Sherretts Restaurant she met Robert Smith. Within two months they were married and had moved back to Woodland to raise a family for 55 years. It was there that Gloria opened Smiths Florist Shop where she would spend the next 40 years making flower arrangements. Gloria was a devout Methodist and member of the Methodist Church of Woodland, she was loved by many and loved just as many back.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband Robert Smith, daughter Shirley McArthur and her son Martin Smith. Her sisters Alice Williams and husband Orland, Ruth McLaughlin and husband Lindsay, her brother Raymond ‘Porky’ Gaddis and wife Marion, and infant sister Shirley Gaddis. She is survived by her daughter in law Wanda Smith, grandchildren Robert Smith, Chad Smith, Brian McCray and companion Karen Poor, Heather McCray and companion Brian Joy, Dana and Glenn Davis, and Christopher and Rebekka Everett. Great grandchildren Kayla, Robert, Aiden, Mya, Emilee, Faith, Madison, Brady, Makenzi, Colton, Gavin, Keegan, Brooklynne, and Grant, and 1 Great-Great Grandson Ashton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 10, 2022 at 10am at the Baileyville Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Rayner officiating. Refreshments to follow at the lake.
