George Joseph Enman, 78, experienced a medical event and passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 12, 2024. George was born in Worcester, MA, on June 12, 1946, son of George and Nellie (Kershaw) Enman.
After graduating from Shrewsbury High School in the Class of 1964, George answered the call of duty, enlisting in the United States Army and serving honorably in Korea. Upon returning to Massachusetts, he went to N.E. Tech pursuing a degree in drafting and architecture.
George's journey led him to the picturesque shores of Cape Cod, where he embarked on a fulfilling career as a homebuilder. His craftsmanship and dedication resulted in the proud construction of over 600 homes, first on Cape Cod and later in Waldoboro, Maine. In 1972 he met his soulmate, Jane Sewall, and in 1973 they were united in a bond that was as beautiful as it was enduring. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, including the cherished retreat they built on Pennamaquan Lake in Charlotte, where they found joy during their retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, George was an active and engaged member of his community. He contributed his time and talents to the American Legion in Pembroke, the Charlotte Historical Society, and the Charlotte Fire Department Auxiliary, showing unwavering dedication to those around him. A man of diverse interests, George had a passion for antique cars and was a proud member of the Maine Region Antique Auto Club, the Packard Club, and the Cadillac LaSalle Club. His adventurous spirit also led him to the skies; after earning his private pilot's license in 1979, he relished the freedom of flight, enjoying journeys across the country, including a magnificent trip to Alaska.
In addition to his parents George and Nellie Enman, he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Kershaw. Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Jane Enman; two sons, Charles Enman and wife Andrea of Andover, MA, and Joseph Enman and wife Tanya of Reno, NV; four grandchildren, John, Thomas, Matthew, and Vincent Enman; two brothers-in-law, Peter Sewall and wife Jaye of Brunswick, ME, and Gordon Sewall of Cohasset, MA; sister-in-law Maureen Sewall of Arlington, MA; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Howie.
