Obituary

Gabriel Sanchez, born on August 18, 1999, in Calais, Maine, passed away on May 15, 2026, in the very place where his life's journey began. His departure leaves a profound silence in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Gabe's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and devotion, echoing the spirit of a man who truly cherished every moment.

Gabe's early education came from Alexander Elementary School, and the nurturing environment of homeschooling, where his curious mind took root. After moving to Florida and working on several farms, he returned to Calais, bringing with him a wealth of experiences. He found work at Walmart but soon followed a calling that truly suited his skills and passions-he was employed as an equipment operator at the local mill.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Gabe remember his boundless love for animals of all kinds. His affection extended beyond the ordinary; each creature was met with a gentle kindness that defined his character. Gabe's zest for life was also seen in his adventurous spirit. He delighted in the thrill of skydiving, embracing the skies as if they were an open invitation to freedom. Equally treasured were the quieter moments, particularly the rides he took on his side-by-side vehicle with his beloved wife, Rebecca Cyr Sanchez, who preceded him in death.

Gabe's family stood at the core of his existence. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Tracey Wallace, and stepfather, Troy Wallace. His sisters, Krystal Mann, Maya Mann, and Kaylee Wallace, brother-in-law Daniel Cyr, grandmother Joanne Cantelli, grandfathers Coburn Wallace and Justilano Sanchez, uncles and aunts Ian and Jennifer Cantelli, Peter and Marie Cantelli, Troy Cantelli, Sandra Harley, Maria Rayes, and Annie Sanchez, as well as his niece Diamond Morris and nephew Uzziah Morris, and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his canine companions-Kinsley, Buddy, Cole, Jax, and Tiny-who were more than pets; they were cherished members of his family.

Gabe's life was touched by those who have passed before him. He was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Cyr Sanchez, whose love will forever dwell in his spirit, his grandmother Norma Wallace and great-grandparents John and Evelyn Hannon, and his uncle Stephen Cantelli.

In remembering Gabe, one recalls a soul who embraced life fully-through the simple and the extraordinary. His love for his family, his gentle regard for the natural world, and his adventurous heart remain a beacon for all who knew him. As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the memories of a man whose presence enriched our lives beyond measure. Gabe's story is one of love, joy, and an enduring spirit that will never be forgotten.
