With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Erland Clifton Reynolds, who left us quietly on June 10, 2025, at the age of 92, only four days short of his 93rd birthday. Erland was born on June 14, 1932, in Calais to Clifton and Zella (Lewis) Reynolds. Erland was a proud Calais Memorial High School graduate, class of 1949. His Woodland paper mill career took him to the paper machine supervisor position. Erland raised his children in Milltown, and during the summers, the family found joy in the simple pleasures of life on Meddybemps Lake. During his retirement years, Erland traveled the country, eventually becoming a "snowbird" to Zephyrhills, Florida. Erland found joy in living "snow shovel" free during the winter months in Florida and returning to Maine to enjoy its even-tempered summer months, residing with his stepson, Bryan Campbell, wife Missy and their children Nathan and Mackenzie.
Erland's quick wit and easy laugh endeared him to all those who knew him. Erland was predeceased by his parents, his ex-wife, Jean (Johnson), with whom he had his six children, his second wife, Enid (MacArthur), third wife, Gloria (Mushrow), son Terry Reynolds, granddaughter Jennifer Doten, great-grandson Trent James, his brother Lewis Reynolds, and sister Joyce (Reynolds) Perkins.
His memory will be cherished by his five remaining children, Stephen Reynolds and wife Laurie of Colorado, Florence "Boots" Johnson of Calais, his deceased son Terry's fiancé, Tammi Smith, Kathy Campbell and companion Jeff Spatcher of Alexander, Dana Reynolds and wife Patty of Meddybemps, and Robert Reynolds and wife Sherri of Calais; sixteen grandchildren, Shaina Matlock and husband Jonas, Chris Reynolds and wife Andrea, Chelsea Blancas and husband Isaac, Jamie Dorn and husband Nathan, Troy Reynolds, Allen Landry and companion Jamie Smith, Jason Johnson and wife Elisha, Tanya Campbell and companion Lee Brinkley, Frank Campbell and companion Amy Day, Stacey James and husband Jerry, Julie Swindler and husband Dan, Jill Osmond, Ashley Reynolds and companion Matt St. Peter, and Emily Reynolds; Frank, Jeff, and Bryan Campbell, sons of second wife Enid; 31 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; his older sister Berla (Reynolds) McKeown; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Meddybemps Cemetery in Meddybemps. Arrangements are by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
