Obituary

Eleanor Jean Wentworth, 88, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home in Princeton. Born in Princeton to Marshall and Lila (Hunnewell) McLellan on December 7, 1936, Eleanor's life was deeply rooted in the same town she was born in, a testament to her unwavering love for her community and family. A proud member of the Princeton High School class of 1954, Eleanor married her one true love, Vernon "Sonny" Wentworth, in the spring of 1955. She was not just a loving wife but a nurturing mother and doting grandmother. Her devotion extended beyond her family, reaching the congregation of the Woodland Baptist Church of which she was an active member. Eleanor found joy and solace in the simple things in life - a good book, the beauty of flowers, and the precious moments spent with her family. These memories, filled with laughter and love, will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. As we remember Eleanor's life, we cherish the memory of her beloved husband Vernon "Sonny" Wentworth; a grandson Corey Wentworth; granddaughter Patricia Francis; and her three sisters, Winifred Carter, Louise Kidder, and Elizabeth McLellan who predeceased her. Her spirit lives on in her three children, Debbie Wilson and husband Don of Huntington, IN, Darryl Wentworth and wife Lisa of Princeton, and Donna Worden and husband Jason of Princeton; her nine grandchildren, Daniel Wilson and wife Elisabeth, Wesley Wilson and wife Felicia, Delores Maffett and husband Zachary, Cody Bulmer and wife Amanda, Donna Sabattus and husband Mihku, Cassandra McPhail, Kristen Russell and husband Mitch, Kelsey Worden and companion Brock Bosworth, and Justin Worden and fiancé Sarah Craft, her 22 great-grandchildren, and the anticipation of her 23rd in July; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her presence. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the South Princeton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor's memory may be made to Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, PO Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402. Arrangements are by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
