Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edgar George Cook, who left us peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 21, 1937, in Calais, Maine, Ed was the beloved son of Francis and Elizabeth (Gower) Cook.

After graduating from Calais High School, Ed devoted over 40 years of his life to his work as a customs broker at PBB Brokerage. While he found fulfillment in his career, it was the love of the great outdoors that truly invigorated his spirit. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed cherished the moments spent in nature, but nothing compared to the joy he derived from being with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his dear wife, Marjorie (Mooreside) Cook; two children, Stephen Wunder and Michelle O'Driscol; two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Poole; his brothers, David and Raymond Damon, and his sister, Donna Damon.

Ed's memory will be lovingly preserved by his children, Christel James and husband Butch, Sharon Raven, Heidi
Wunder, David Wunder and wife Nancy, and Robin Daniels and husband Mark. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren-Gregory, Ryan, Megan, Anthony, KadieLee, Robbie, Danny, Sharon, Jamie, Dale, Mark Jr., Jeremy, and Keagan-as well as two great-grandsons, Dylan and Bryson. He will be missed by many extended family members and friends who have been touched by his kindness and warmth.

A graveside service will be held in honor of Ed's life on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Calais Cemetery. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together in remembrance and celebration of Ed's remarkable life. Arrangements are being handled with care by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

In this time of loss, we welcome condolences, memories, and photographs that honor Ed's journey and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. Please visit
