Dorothy Irene (Little) DelMonaco, a woman whose spirit and warm heart touched the lives of so many, peacefully embarked on her final journey to heaven on April 29th, 2025, at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her family. Her passing at the Atria Marland Place community in Andover, MA, marked the end of a life beautifully lived. Born on October 25, 1932, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Irene was the daughter of the late Elmer and Jean (Polley) Little. In 1957, she married Peter DelMonaco, Jr., and together they built a life over 57 years, until his passing in 2015. For over two decades, Irene worked as a Teacher's Aide at the Calais Elementary School. She greatly enjoyed working with children, offering them not only assistance but also kindness and encouragement that left a lasting impression. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator and at the Ganong Bros. chocolate factory. Irene will be deeply missed by her beloved son, John DelMonaco, his wife, Jennifer (Nisi), and her granddaughters, Sabrina and Isabelle, who adored her and who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Her memory will also be treasured by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Anderson, Ethel Crompton, and Katherine Groom, as well as her brother, John. She lived a joyful and full life. While she had many interests – among them gardening with Peter, crafting, or watching her Celtics -- above all else, she cherished the time spent connecting with friends and family. Her sense of humor came to life when sharing a story (or hearing one) and her laughter will echo in the hearts of her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 3rd at 12:00p at the Immaculate Conception Church, 31 Calais Ave. Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery.
