Doris June Linton arrived on October 9th, 1977, to parents Robert and Blanche (Farris) Linton in Willimantic, Connecticut.
Moving back to Eastport with her parents and siblings, she attended and graduated from Shead High School.
After the demise of her parents and the scattering of her siblings, Doris’s life took a turn and found the love of her life, Fred Newman II.
Doris found herself immersed within a large family dynamic from both sides of Fred’s family, Gatchell’s and Newman’s. She was always front and center, loving every minute of it. During the 22 years Fred and Doris were together, they travelled, sightseeing, bingo and crafting.
Doris was a regular fixture within many area bingo halls, lending help, laughing, and winning. She sold many crafts and tied blankets, gifting many to everyone that knew her.
Those she will be welcomed by in her next adventure are her parents, Fred Newman I, Doris and Kenneth Gatchell, and Everett Newman.
Surviving and missing her are Frederick Newman II, her shadow and companion, siblings Robert (Dawn) Linton of Bellevue, Nebraska. Virginia (Anthony) Russomano of Lyman, Maine. Roy Linton of Brooklyn, N.Y..Deborah Linton and nephew Robert Jr. of Willimantic, Connecticut.
Her extended family consists of Eileen Gatchell Newman, Daniel Newman of Baileyville, Maine. Jeremy (Tana) Newman of Circleville, Ohio.Virginia Newman of Princeton, Maine. Also, too numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and bingo friends to name.
Fred and the family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of St. Croix Regional Family Health Center for their dedication to Doris through the years and the end. Words cannot express our thanks.
A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday June 25th, 2023, at American Legion Hall in Baileyville, Me. With keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no burial at this time.
