Obituary

Donna D. Renaud, born on June 29, 1948, in the town of Bellows Falls, Vermont, was an adventurous soul who embraced every moment with a spirited enthusiasm right up to her passing on January 6, 2026. Her wit and humor brought joy to all who knew her, and her zest for life was unparalleled. Donna attended Grammar school in Nashua, New Hampshire, and High School in Milford and Hudson NH. She furthered her education at Revier College in Nashua, establishing the foundation for an impressive career. It was while working at Sanders Associates in Nashua where her smile and lively good nature captured the heart of Edward, and their many common interests and dedication to one another created a strong bond that resulted in their marriage in 1978. Together they have a beautiful family with four children, Marlene Bourque (York, Maine), Timothy Renaud (Rochester, New Hampshire), Christine Kohnle (South Berwick, Maine), and Douglas Harling (Kittery, Maine). Donna spent 32 dedicated years working for BAE Systems, formerly Sanders Associates, where she held the position of Technical Librarian. Managing the company's Document Center, she oversaw the updating and distribution of all government specifications and standards necessary for contract obligations for military defense contracts for several company facilities. Her career was as dynamic as she was, and she retired in 2003, leaving a remarkable legacy behind. But Donna's adventurous spirit extended far beyond the confines of her professional life. She was an avid outdoorswoman, participating in sporting adventures with her beloved husband, Edward Renaud. She hunted and fished across the US, and her prowess earned her several entries in the "Biggest Bucks in Maine Club". Donna's competitive spirit even led her to set a world record in a rifle bench rest competition match, besting her husband's second place score. Working side by side with Ed to complete the house they finished together in Maine, they turned it into a home; and Donna took great joy in tending her flowers and vegetable gardens around the property. Their creativity and partnership together knew no bounds; the two of them also worked together in the extraordinary undertaking of designing and constructing their solar-powered home in New Hampshire from the ground up, and with the slight exception of hiring two carpenters for a day to help plywood the roof, and a stone mason to create the chimney, they completed the entire project themselves. The build took a year and a half, as Donna and Ed were both working full time at BAE systems while simultaneously working on their home. Donna's energy and commitment also found expression in her community involvement. She served as the Secretary for Washington County Conservation Association for years and presided over the Tomah Country Trail Riders ATV Club for 17 years. She was also a selectman for the town of Waite and served as Road Commissioner up to the time of her passing. Yet, amid her many roles, Donna always found time for laughter and celebration, often seizing the opportunity to lunch with other women for birthday celebrations. Her husband Ed often humorously suspected that several of the "Birthday Girls" had multiple birthdays each year. Donna's legacy is one of adventure, spirit, and wit, and her memory will be cherished by those whose lives she touched, especially her loving husband, Edward. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Olive Tuthill. Arrangements for Donna are being handled by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
