Perry – Debbie L. DeWitt, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 24, 2022 due to a medical complication. Debbie was born in Calais on April 15, 1982, daughter of David and Nancy (Ritchie) DeWitt.

Debbie was a proud and loving mother and wife. She lived for the holidays, especially Christmas, and cherished spending them with her family. She had a love for the movie A Christmas Story and could not wait until it was time to put up her leg lamp every year and decorate the yard to try and win the town decorating competition. Debbie loved reading and enjoyed ice fishing, riding back roads looking for birds, and all things outdoors. She enjoyed spending time hiking at West Quoddy Head Light with her family. She also enjoyed spending time outside in her garden with her dogs by her side.

Debbie loved taking her two daughters to Roque Bluffs in the summer so they could enjoy time on the beach and swim in the ocean. She also enjoyed taking trips up north to Kendall’s Dairy Farm and seeing all the animals and going out to eat with her “drinking buddy” Robert. Debbie enjoyed all different types of music, and shopping for gifts for her children. Some of Debbie’s most cherished memories were taking trips to Bangor with her children. Debbie also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family on her days off from work. She enjoyed spending time with her father-in-law Jimmy whom she is now reunited with. She always loved to watch him make and learn his secrets for his spaghetti sauce, which was a family Christmas Eve tradition.

Debbie was very fond of her Subway family in Machias where she was known as “The Subway Mom”.

Debbie was predeceased by her father -in-law, Jimmy Wilson; her two grandfathers, Ralph DeWitt Sr. and James Ritchie; and her grandmother Ethel DeWitt. Debbie is survived by her loving husband Denny Lyon; sons Logan Lyon and companion Daryle Trott of Perry, and Wesley Lyon and companion Ashley Lawrence of Machias; daughters Ashley Lyon and Madison Lyon of Perry; grandchildren, Ava Trott and Owen Smith of Perry; her fur babies Bay lee and Roxy; parents David and Nancy DeWitt of Perry; brothers Mac Ritchie of Eastport and David DeWitt of Colorado; sister Kaitlyn DeWitt of Perry; mother-in-law Regina Wilson of Perry; father-in-law Horace Lyon and wife Sandy of Cathance Twp; sisters-in-law Laurie Preston of Perry, and Jaime Trainor and husband Shamus of Robbinston; brother-in-law Darrin Lyon of Eastport; her grandmother Betty Ritchie; many nieces and nephews; special niece Paige Wilson; her Goddaughter Sefina; and special friend Scott MacNichol and his children Brayden, Deanna and Camden.
