Dayton Dineen passed away unexpectedly at home on September 3, 2025. Born on November 29, 1941, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, he was the son of Daniel and Marjory E. Dineen. He graduated from Calais High School, and just three days later, he entered the United States Navy. After serving four proud years, Dayton went on to school in Houlton, where he met the love of his life, Eunice T. Dineen, and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Accounting.
Dayton was the foundation of his family — stoic, brave, kind, and deeply devoted to his loved ones. Together with Eunice, he built a family rooted in love and resilience. He adored his daughter, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchild. His role as father, grandfather, and husband brought him immense joy.
He lived a life guided by hard work, strong values, and faith. He worked for 40 years at Georgia-Pacific mill in Baileyville, specializing in computer networking, and software/hardware applications where he earned the respect of his coworkers and built lasting friendships. After his retirement, he took great pride in driving for Downeast Community Partners, helping others and staying active in the community he loved so much.
Dayton also served proudly as one of the highest-ranking Knight of Columbus, where he found purpose in service, fellowship, brotherhood, and giving back to his community. He enjoyed Monday night bingo, where he cherished the friendships and familiar faces, often encouraging others with his warm spirit and humor.
In his younger years, Dayton was a talented athlete who earned awards in basketball — a sport he remained passionate about throughout his life. He loved supporting the Calais Blue Devils and attending their games, always cheering with pride for his hometown team.
He had many joys — his love of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, his bright laugh that could fill a room, and the simple everyday moments he shared with his family and friends.
Dayton was predeceased by his beloved wife Eunice T. Dineen, his parents Daniel and Marjory Dineen, his brothers Norman and Douglas, and his very good friends Rocky Johnson, Doug Frost, Jimmy Lunn, and Dick Hodgeston. Dayton is survived by his daughter Christina Dineen; his grandchildren Zackary, Falon, and Dillon; his great-grandchild Colter Dayton; and his siblings Vince, Deanna, Billy, and his very good friend Billy Gibson. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
All who knew and loved Dayton are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
