Alexander
David E. Porter Jr.
February 26, 1968-September 5, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David E. Porter Jr. of Alexander, ME, surrounded by his family, David passed away on September 5, 2026.
David was born and raised in Calais, ME. He moved to Rochester, NY as a teen where he graduated from high school. David returned to Calais where he worked for JD Thomas for over 17 years until he was hired at Louisiana Pacific for a short time until its closing in 2004. David, never wanting to be out of work, went to school and was hired on at V.L. Tammaro where he had worked for the last 21 years. In those 21 years he became a skilled, respected, and loved HVAC technician. His work ethic and connection with his customers was an important part of his life. He took pride in his work whether it be for his employment or his family and home projects.
When he wasn't working David was a skilled woodworker. He had become a master on his lathe and carving out bowls which he enjoyed. There was nothing David couldn't build or fix. He was truly exceptional at everything his hands touched.
David married his wife Dana (Smith) Porter in 1990 and would have celebrated their 36th anniversary in November of this year. David and Dana loved to take what they called "adventures" whether it be finding the old trains in the woods, metal detecting, magnet fishing, going to the casino, or being a dinosaur at a child's birthday party. They always made it an adventure and enjoyed their time together.
David is survived by his wife Dana Porter of Alexander, his very special one and only daughter Lacey Porter of Greenville, NC, Daughter-in-law Brooke Porter of Calais, ME, who he loves like his own. One granddaughter, Emersyn Porter, who he loved with all his heart of Calais, ME. His sister, who was by his side and her husband, Lorraine & Lee Klug of Ellsworth, His mother Teresa Porter of Calais, ME. In laws Mike & Betty Smith of Alexander, Sister-in-Law Diane Lord, Brother-in-law Mike Smith & Wife Keitha. Nieces & Nephews Ericka Toole, Amanda Randall, Dylan Lord, Logan Lord, Michaela Leeman, Briana Donavan & BJ Moholland. Many great nieces and nephews. His VL Tammaro family and Special Customers. David also leaves behind his very special pug Ruby Boobie, his pups Rebel & Lily, and his cat Daisy.
David was predeceased by his dad, David Porter Sr, his brother Todd Porter, his only son who he will now reunite with, Austin David Porter.
The family has decided to honor Davids wishes and will not hold services at this time. A memory stone will be placed at his son Austins property in Alexander which is to be a family gathering place where we can all remember David as well as Austin through the years.
David's wife, Dana, & Daughter, Lacey, & Brooke would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this tragic and very difficult time. Thank you all for loving David and being part of his life.
Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared on David's memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com
