Obituary

David "Dave" Leroy Cook, Sr., 84, passed away on November 5, 2025, in Bangor, Maine. Dave was born in Eastport, Maine in 1941, the son of Frederick E. Cook and Jane Clement Cook and was predeceased by his brother, Frederick W. Cook. He is survived by his devoted wife Katherine L. MacDonald Cook, daughter Kathy Magoon and her husband Tim of Old Town; son David L. Cook Jr. and his wife Gaye-Lynn of Whitney, Texas; granddaughters Megan Randlett and her husband Joshua, Sarah Barr and her husband Wade; grandson David Trey Cook, III; and great-granddaughters Olivia Barr, and Hannah and Sadie Randlett. Dave is also survived by his brother-in-law Walter MacDonald and his wife Mary; sister-in-law Lorene Cook; as well as many much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Although Dave spent his later years in the Bangor area, Eastport was always home. It was there that he and Katherine worked, raised their children, and built lasting friendships. Dave loved the outdoors. He spent many hours in the woods or on the water in Washington County — his favorite hunting, trapping, and fishing haunts. He enjoyed sharing stories of fishing trips, hunting excursions, and trapping tales with anyone willing to listen. A graveside committal service will be held in the Spring of 2026 at the plot that Dave and Katherine chose together in their cherished Eastport.
