Johnson City, NY

Christopher Paul Mackin (61) of Johnson City, NY passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2023, while in Dennysville, Maine; a place he truly loved to be and where he found respite.

Chris grew up in Binghamton, NY.  He graduated from Seton Catholic Central High School and received his master’s degree from SUNY Binghamton. He was an accomplished wrestler in both high school and college.

Chris had many types of work throughout his lifetime. Some of these included H&R Block, Volunteers of America, Southern Tier Track and Field Officials Association, and Lowe’s. One of his favorites being Head of Security at Hansom House in Southampton, NY.  He also had his hand in acting, film and television in his younger days.

Chris was a creative soul, a visionary with fantastic ideas and thoughtful plans. He had a huge love for all things science fiction. He enjoyed friends from the Hansom House, The Village Diner, and the Greek House.

He was predeceased by his parents James and Rosemary Mackin.  He is survived by his brothers, James III (Connie), Timothy, and Michael Mackin and his sister Kathleen (John) Dodd. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs Magoo and Olive.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Jon Jaques and family for all you did for Chris and us at this time. Also, a special thanks to his friend, Angiulli Bello, for being instrumental in getting proper placement for Chris’ dogs.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his name to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, or Broome County Humane Society. All had a part in homing Chris’ pets.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 11th at St. Patrick’s Church, 9 Leroy St., Binghamton, NY @ 9:30am. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
