Obituary for Charles A. Crosby

Baileyville – Charles Allison “Knuck” Crosby, 77, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at a Calais hospital. Charlie was born in Little Ridge, N.B., March 31, 1928, son of the late Norman and Elsie (Weatherby) Crosby. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Charlie married Beverly Suddy on June 11, 1949, in Edmunds. He was employed as a Scaler for Georgia Pacific in Baileyville for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. Charlie was a member of Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion in Calais, Quarter Century Club at Georgia Pacific; and a member and Past President of the Spednic Club in Baileyville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, and gardening. Charlie was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Hallowell. Surviving are his wife of over 56 years, Beverly; five children, Muriel McPhee and husband James, Diane Roderick and Bill Garrymoore, Frank Crosby and wife Sandra, Jerry Crosby and Nancy Treadwell, and Philip Crosby and wife Cathy, all of Baileyville; two sisters, Constance Allen and husband Fred of Dennysville, and Norma Cox and husband Sam of Edmunds; a brother-in-law, Herbert Hallowell of Edmunds; seven grandchildren, Candy Roderick and companion Jamie Crowe, Craig Roderick Jr. and companion Trina Nielson, Stacy Crosby, Lee Crosby and fiancé Chad Seelye, Jennie Crosby and companion Dave Kneeland, Elizabeth Crosby, and Alison Crosby; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Price and Taylor Price; best friends, Jennie and Phil Kilby of Edmunds; and his canine companion, Tigger. Friends may call 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at People’s United Methodist Church, Third Ave., Baileyville, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Bernie Hammond officiating. Burial will be private.
