Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Arthur Doten Sr., who left us on October 3, 2026, just a day shy of his 62nd birthday. Born on October 4, 1964, in Calais, Maine, the son of Marshall (Raymond) Doten and Joan Mahar, and his stepfather, Victor Mahar.

Brian was a hard worker; he dedicated much of his life to working as a laborer. He worked at Gilford and Gates in Eastport Maine, later working in the fisheries raising salmon. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took pride in everything he did.

Beyond his labor, Brian enjoyed spending as much time outdoors as possible. He was an outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a deep passion for rock music and cherished the memories of concert nights filled with the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, and more.

Family and friends will remember Brian for his kind-heartedness and great sense of humor. He was the type of guy who could light up a room with a smile and a joke. His loyalty extended to all, including his beloved dog, Digger, who was always by his side.

Left to carry on his legacy are his son, Brian Doten Jr. and his partner, Jaimie Nicholas; his sister, Michelle Nicolaisen and her husband Eric; his nephew, Brandon Nicolaisen; his uncles, Stanley and Edward Young; and his precious granddaughter, Arya Nicholas-Doten; along with several cousins and his good friend David Jensen. Brian was predeceased by his partner Doreen Lingley, his mother, Joan and her husband Victor Mahar, his father Raymond Doten and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

We will miss Brian dearly, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him. All are welcome to share condolences and memories on his memorial page at www.Maysfuneralhome.com.

A Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Red Beach Cemetery.
