Beverly Ann McDonald, 81, a woman of many talents and a heart full of love, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Calais, Maine, surrounded by her family. Born to John and Frieda (Fischer) Pollock on April 20, 1944, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Beverly's journey of life was nothing less than extraordinary. A woman with a strong work ethic, after high school, she began working at Newberry's Store where fate aligned her with James McDonald, her soon-to-be husband, and lifelong companion.
Beverly's journey with James took them through Caribou, Lincoln, Dover-Foxcroft, and eventually to Calais, where they happily retired. Along the way, Beverly held various retail jobs before earning her EMT certification. This led her to Barnard's Nursing Home in Calais, where she dedicated her skills and compassion in several roles, eventually retiring as a Med Tech. But the story of Beverly's life was not just about work. It was also about a woman with a passion for music, who could beautifully play the piano and organ for numerous churches. It was about a brave soul who earned her private pilot license, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Due to James' employment, they were able to travel to many locations including: Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, The Greek Islands, Israel, Egypt, Brazil, and many places within the USA.
Beverly found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening and spending summers at the camp she and James built on Cathance Lake. She was an active member of the Calais Hospital Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi. Beverly leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a spirit of giving. She is survived by her three children, Jill McDonald of Calais, James McDonald Jr. of New Jersey, and John McDonald and companion Eileen Brown of Calais; grandchildren Ben and Kayla Clark of Calais; great-grandchildren Harleigh and Jeffrey Clark; two brothers, Richard and Wayne Pollock of New Hampshire; and numerous nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Frieda Pollock; husband, James McDonald Sr., and a brother, John Pollock Jr.
