With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bertrand George Swallow on August 30, 2026, surrounded by his wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law. Known by George to all, he was born on July 23, 1957, in Portland, Maine, son of Bertha Swallow.

George was a masterful mechanic, the best at his trade. He was the "go to man" when it came to a car problem. For over 40 years he worked at various garages, Foss' in East Machias, Carlton Corey in Lubec, Blueberry Ford in Machias, and Corey & Corey in Lubec, just to name a few. George enjoyed hunting with his brothers for many years, but within time he just enjoyed riding the roads for a peek or sitting in the field in Dixie with hopes a big one might jump out. George could also be found hanging out in early mornings at Dallas' garage getting the morning gossip.

George loved his family dearly. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Sarah; two children, Minzy Newman and husband Allen of Campobello, NB, and Robert Swallow of Lubec. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Breanna Mitchell, Teagan Newman, and Jackson Newman, along with 2 great-grandchildren, Ruxton and Wrenley Mitchell. George is also survived by his siblings, Larry (Valerie) Dunbar, Bonnie Crockett, Mike (Robyn) Swallow, Diane Murray, and Shirley Cox; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary Pappalardo, Wayne Nicolantonio, David (Debbie) Marston, and Charlene Marston. George had some special people in his life, though not siblings, he considered them as one, Doty Merrill and her husband Mike. He also leaves behind a best friend for 30 plus years, Dallas Hood and partner Joanne Case. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as George came from a very big family.

George was predeceased by his mother Bertha Swallow; sisters Brenda Pappalardo, Barbara Swallow, Julie Nicolantonio, and brother Ronald "Buckshot" Swallow, nephew Scott Merrill; sister-in-law Betty (Peter) Case; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Teletha Marston.

George's wish was to have no funeral services, but to gather around and have a cookout, enjoy the day with no sadness - party it up! A date and time will be announced later. "We're here for a good time, not a long time, so have a good time. The sun can't shine every day" - Trooper
