Bertram E.
Moody
August 6, 1940 – December 15, 2024
Bertram (Bert) E. Moody, 84, formally of Millinocket, entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
He was born August 6, 1940, in Island Falls, Maine, the son of Earle and Nellie Moody (Pipes).
He grew up in East Millinocket and lived briefly in Vero Beach, Florida, where he graduated high school, class of 1958. He returned to Millinocket for the sole purpose of being with his high school sweetheart and life-long partner & wife, Judy Burleigh.
Bert retired in 1999 from Bowater Paper Company (formerly GNP and Georgia-Pacific) and enjoyed his retirement by attending sporting events, plays & concerts at the schools. He also was an avid outdoors man focusing on hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and off-road vehicles. He was always available to help anyone at a drop of a dime, regardless of the task. His unconditional love for his grandchildren & great-grandson is his lasting gift to them all.
Bert is survived by three sons, Keith Moody and his wife Tammy, Stephen Moody and his wife Jessica, and Brian Moody and his husband Bradley Riley; his sister Sheila Miller and her husband Gary; sisters-in-law Audrey Hartley, Betty Lou Hawkes, and Donna Pelkey; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Craig, Alexis, Isabelle, Stephen Jr., Kalob, Annie, Hannah, and Sophie; great-grandson Finnick; and special beloved niece Janine Dumas.
In addition to his parents, Bert was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Judy; two sisters Margorie and Marilyn; two brothers Dwight and Wayne; and special best friend Elwin Malone.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Wellmore Point Residential Care facility in Calais, as well as the outstanding medical staff at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth for the excellent care provided to him.
Bert had a long-standing diabetic condition that required ongoing medication support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org
A graveside service will be scheduled by the family, at a later date, at Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
