Beatrice Evelyn Barnard, known to many as "Pat" or "Gram," passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by family. Pat was born on December 10, 1931, in Calais, Maine, and grew up in Milltown. She graduated from Calais Academy in 1949. On May 8, 1951, she married her beloved husband, Paul Barnard. Pat worked at Ross Brothers and later at Calais Community Hospital, where she retired as a receptionist after many years of dedicated service. Pat loved spending time in Eastport and St. Andrews, N.B. She especially enjoyed knitting, attending family sporting events, tending to her beautiful flower gardens and rhubarb patch, and antique shopping with her best friend, Nancy Scott. Pat had a gift for making everyone feel at home and took great joy in cooking for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their friends. Whether it was her famous homemade breads, jams, pickles, chicken salad sandwiches, or family dinners, everyone felt welcomed and loved. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Harriet Mae (Stone) Bayliss; her beloved husband, Paul; her daughters, Paulette Gillespie and Katharine Barnard; and her grandson, Branden Gillespie. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Bud and Ralph, and their wives, Pat and Dot; as well as other in-laws: Viola and Tommy, Ruth and Merle, Arthur and Arlene, Ida and Norman, Caroll, Phillip, Francis, and Nellie; and her best friend, Nancy Scott. She is survived by her children, Brian Barnard (Leslie), Deborah Murphy (Calvin), and Sharon Moholland (Babe); her grandchildren, Eric (Jody), Amber (Brad), Tara, BryAna, Jessefa (Jessica), Ariel (Evan), Sunni (Matt), Sheena, Nikki (Ken), Brandi (David), and Tiffany (Michael); 32 great-grandchildren; her brothers-in-law, William Barnard (Margaret) and David Barnard; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Pat will be held on May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Calais Cemetery.
