Barbara A. Kneeland

Baileyville

Barbara Anne Kneeland, 89, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.  Barbara was born in St. Stephen, NB, on June 14, 1934, daughter of Eric Max Sawyer and Ethel (Adams) Sawyer.

After graduating from St. Stephen High School, Class of 1953, Barbara married Norris “Bud” Kneeland on August 15, 1953.  She worked for Hathaway’s and a shoe factory.  Barbara was a member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville, and Orion Chapter #45 O.E.S. in Calais.  She enjoyed beano, reading, and playing cribbage.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Barbara was predeceased by her husband Bud.  Surviving are her two sons, Thomas Kneeland and wife Debra of Princeton, and Alan Kneeland and wife Diane of Baileyville; five grandchildren, Bronson Kneeland and wife Carly of Baileyville, Ashlee Arsenault and companion Aaron Moody of Hampden, Tyson Kneeland and companion Amanda Slowikowski of Baileyville, Lisa Potter and husband Adam of Windham, and Chad Kneeland and companion Cristine Boomer of Baileyville; ten great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ellie, Nathaniel, Addisyn, Declan, Bryce, Kaelyn, Ruby, Ava, and Madelynn; two sisters-in-law, Ida Kneeland and Shirley Seavey, both of Calais; and many nieces and nephews.  Family was everything to Barbara and she was looking forward to welcoming her 11th great-grandchild due in July, Brynley.

A special thank you to the staff at New Horizon’s in Calais for the excellent care and companionship given to Barbara in her final months. 

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no services.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
