Obituary for Baby Elizabeth Ellsmore

Calais – Saige Elizabeth Ellsmore, 6 weeks and 1 day, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 29, 2006 in her mother’s arms, after a courageous fight with an infection. She was born in Bangor on June 15, 2006. Saige is survived by her loving parents, Alan and Tomi Ellsmore of Calais; a sister, Megan Ellsmore of Calais; grandparents, Tari Murphy and Joe Schofield of Eastport, Gene and Kaloua Cookson of Calais, and Joe and Marilyn Ellsmore of Marshfield; two great-grandmothers, Lorraine Murphy of Eastport and Irma Cookson of Calais; an aunt and uncle Debbie and Tim Getchell of Whitneyville and John Ellsmore of Florida; and two cousins, Ben and Garret Getchell of Whitneyville. Saige touched a lot of people for her short time on this earth. She had a fighting spirit all the way to the end of her short life. She will be forever our little girl. A special thank you goes to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unite and other staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center for all they did for our precious girl. Especially her two godmothers, Jen and Terri. We would also like to thank members of the community who helped us throughout our journey with Saige. God now has one more Angel. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais with Chaplain Maria Guereca officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Saige’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401 or towards a rocking chair in her memory at EMMC Neonatal Care, checks should be payable to E.M.M.C., and mail to Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, ME 04619.
