Obituary

Anthony Duane Lazzaro, of Baileyville, Maine, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 68. Born in Marble, Minnesota, on January 22, 1957, Anthony, or Tony as he was affectionately known, was the son of Robert and Dorothy (Bunce) Lazzaro. His father's military career took the family to Germany, where Tony attended Karlsruhe American High School. Tony himself served his country in the U.S. Army, working in a tank division. His strength, courage, and integrity were evident in all he did, and his service to his country was a testament to his character. Upon returning from his service, Anthony found his way to Maine, where he began work at the Georgia Pacific in the O.S.B. Plant. It was here that he met Vicki Moores, the love of his life. The couple united in marriage on March 18, 1979, and together built a life filled with love, adventure, and resilience. Tony was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in the natural world. Whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, or cheering on his favorite football and NASCAR teams, Tony's passion for life was infectious. Above all, Tony will be remembered by his devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren. Anthony is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki Lazzaro; their two children, Candice Gagner and husband Jeffrey of Baileyville, ME and Nicole LaPointe and husband Jeremy of Old Town, ME; five grandchildren, Morgan Gagner and companion Roger Socobasin, Paige Gagner, and Alanna, Jordan, and Jaxon LaPointe; and a great-grandson, Myles Socobasin. He also leaves behind three sisters, Mardi Bond and husband James of Denmark, ME, Bobbi Koch and husband Jeff of Lakewood, WA, and Debbie Toppins of Piedmont, MO; brothers Dean Lazzaro and wife Debbie of Denver, CO and Nace Lazzaro of Denver, CO; brother-in-law Kenneth "Chicky" Mulholland of Alexander, ME, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Suzette Mulholland. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
