Ann L.
Lyons
May 17, 1933 — Jun 15, 2026
Ann Lee Lyons, 93, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. With her departure, Ann leaves behind a legacy woven from love, compassion, and cherished memories; she was truly the heart of her family and represented the essence of "Home" for all who knew her.
Ann was born on May 17, 1933, in Watertown, NY, to Maurice Pitt Horton and Jessie (Lee) Horton. After graduating high school in Henderson, NY, in 1951, she pursued her passion for nursing, earning her nursing degree from the Crouse-Irving Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Over a remarkable 26-year career as a registered nurse, Ann brought comfort and care to countless individuals in Rochester, NY, El Centro, CA, Burlington, VT, and ultimately retired as the Director of Nursing at Barnard's Nursing Home in Calais, ME.
A true renaissance woman, Ann embraced life with an adventurous spirit, engaging in woodworking, painting, and gardening. Her creativity flourished in the form of family treasures, from homemade decorations to beautiful quilts and delicious, home-cooked meals that nourished both body and soul. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, she also enjoyed puzzles, Judo, horseback riding, and ice skating. Ann was always ready to travel with her children. Be it her trips to the casino with her daughters, trips to the New Yankee stadium, destinations weddings for her grandchildren, beach shore trips in coastal Maine, trips to the Epcot Theme Park in Florida, lighthouse tours, and her annual trips to North Carolina, and New York State for the family reunions. She spent her life, always on the go. Her happiest moments were spent at the beloved camp on the North Lake thoroughfare, surrounded by nature and family. Christmas was especially dear to her heart; she transformed the holiday into a magical experience filled with baking, decorations, and an abundance of love for her family.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lyons, her infant son Kerry, her brothers Maurice "Pete" and James "Jim" Horton, and several cherished in-laws, as well as her parents. She is survived by her brother, Harold "Butch" Horton, sister Aletha "Tish" Horton, and her four children: Erin Flannery of Gilbert, AZ, Kelly Lowe and husband Tim of Princeton, ME, Shawn Lyons and wife Sylvina of Beals Island, ME, and Tracy Lyons Bergmann of Alpharetta, GA. Ann's loving legacy continues through her six cherished grandchildren, Chad Dwelley and wife Katie of Mt. Vernon, ME, Raynel Wood and husband Jared of Hermon, ME, Harold Lyons of Beals Island, ME, Samuel Lyons of Beals Island, ME, Andi St. Pierre and husband Denis St. Pierre Jr. of Gilbert, AZ, and Shawn Handler and wife Meredith of Alpharetta, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Reagan Dwelley, Gavin Dwelley, Kade Dwelley, Dallas Robinson, Ellie Handler, Graham Handler, and Iris St. Pierre, along with many special nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.
A family graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Baileyville, ME. Ann's family invites all who wish to share condolences, memories, and photographs to do so at www.MaysFuneralHome.com.
