Obituary

On July 26th, 2026, Alan Wayne Kneeland lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. He died at home with his wife by his side. He was born on March 23, 1955 in St. Stephen, NB, to Norris "Bud" Kneeland and Barbara (Sawyer) Kneeland.

Alan graduated from Woodland High School, Class of 1973. He continued his education taking courses in building construction and weatherization. He was a hazmat technician at the paper mill and a fireman for the Town of Baileyville.

Alan married his high school sweetheart, Diane Sowers, on August 15, 1980. Together they raised three beautiful kids.

Alan's hobbies included reading, fishing, and making stained glass. Camping and vacations with family and friends were important to him.

Alan retired from the mill on June 16, 2016, after spending 43 years with Georgia-Pacific, Domtar, and finally Woodland Pulp.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Diane Kneeland; his three kids, Tyson and partner Amanda Slowikowski of Baileyville, Lisa Potter and husband Adam of Windham, and Chad and partner Cristine Boomer of Baileyville; his brother Tommy and wife Debe of South Princeton; eight grandchildren, Kaelyn, Ruby, Nathaniel, Declan, Addisyn, Bryce, Ava, and Brynley.

He also leaved behind many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peggy (Sowers) Avery and Mike, Skip Sowers and Norma, Wayne Sowers, Christine Fullerton, Jill Fullerton and Teddy, and Jamie MacArthur; and many special nieces and nephews.

Alan was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law John Fullerton; and a nephew Austin Fullerton.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lafayette Family Cancer Institute of Brewer where very special people work, and of course CHCS Hospice Care who gently guided them to the end.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Woodland Cemetery, Ryan Rd., in Baileyville. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared at www.MaysFuneralHome.com
