Obituary for Richard Howe

Richard S. HoweCalais – Richard S. Howe, 75, died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at a Calais hospital. Richard was born in Buffalo, NY, October 2, 1930, son of the late Lloyd N. and Christine (Soissons) Howe and step son of the late Katherine Howe. He graduated from Kenmore High School in Kenmore, NY. Richard served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950 – 1953, serving on the Coast Guard Ice Breaker West Wind in Greenland, and the summers at Montauk Point Light House on Long Island, NY. He attended Alfred University in NY and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in PA. After graduating, he was employed with Pratt Whitney in New Haven, CT. Richard relocated to Princeton and was employed by Georgia Pacific in Baileyville and worked for the Town of Princeton and the Moosehorn National Wildlife Game Refuge. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Howe of Grand Lake Stream. Surviving are his brother, Robert G. Howe and wife Ruth of Buffalo, NY; two nephews, James and John Howe of Buffalo, NY; and a dear friend, Mary Wallace of Princeton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Frank Morin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, at St. James the Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville. Burial follow in Princeton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James the Greater R.C. Church, PO Box 369, Baileyville, ME 04694. Arrangement by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
