Obituary for Richard Joseph Dana

Indian Township – Richard Joseph “Stubby” Dana, 67, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. Stubby was born at Peter Dana Point on October 19, 1949, son of Albert and Philomene (Lola) Dana.

After attending local school, he went to University of Maine Orono until beginning a career as a welder for Bath Iron Works. Being an avid outdoorsman, Stubby eventually went to work in the woods. During his retirement, he did seasonal work such as elver fishing and blueberry raking. Stubby was a member of the Indian Township Elder Council and enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and talking with friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step-daughter Wendy Davis; three brothers, Roger, John and Charles Dana; two sisters, Alice Dana and Viola Brown; and several aunts and uncles. Surviving are his loving companion of 30 years, Patricia Davis Weston; four children, Alexanera Moulton of Tobique, NB, Marissa Davis of Bangor, Todd Davis of Lugoff, SC, and Judy Lola and her companion John Oliver of Indian Township; nine grandchildren, Khyana, Zew Muwin and Ohana Oliver, Todd, Zachary and Matthew Davis, Matthew Burch, Cherelle Dempsey, and Asia Davis; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Alberta White of Indian Township; his brother Samuel Dana and wife Sonja of Indian Township; special niece, Wanda Doten and her husband Ralph of Indian Township; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Theresa Downing and Estella Neptune, both of Indian Township; two Godsons, Roger Brown and his wife Faithann, and Avery Doten, both of Indian Township; and dear friends, Jake Lola of Indian Township, Tina Dana of Indian Township, Roland Newell and his wife Susan of Pleasant Point, and Tom Bouchard of Quebec.

Visiting hours will begin 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his sister’s home, Alberta White, 476 Peter Dana Point Rd., Indian Township until 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Kevin J. Martin, Celebrant, 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28 at St. Ann R.C. Church, Peter Dana Point. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
