Obituary for Melissa Cox

Baileyville – Missy Cox, 44, lost her life to the evils that we all know too well living in Washington County on June 27, 2019. Missy was the daughter of Donald and Gayla Cox. She was born in Caribou on April 12, 1975, but soon moved to Woodland where she became a true "Juctioneer" for the remainder of her life. Missy attended Woodland High School, where she proved herself to be a great athlete. Upon graduation, she continued her journey as a Health Care Worker.

From birth, Missy had an addictive personality, finding balance was a constant struggle for her. Many would never have recognized this about Missy, as her positive energy and compassion for life overpowered any of her faults. Missy loved and treasured her family. She thought of her nephew Donnie, with nieces Delia and Opal as her own. She shared a special love and friendship between them. They were her everything!

Missy's true passion was working with the elderly. Over the years she had worked at Barnards Nursing home. She was ALWAYS so kind and patient with all the residents. Her constant smile proved how compassionate and driven she was in making the lives better for "her" people. She had that special touch, and everyone loved her for that. No matter a person's age or social racking, she fit in and was well liked by everyone that crossed her path. She looked forward to Saturday night card games with "her" Old Ladies. She not only had a love for the game - But it also brought her great joy to know that they were ok.

Missy will always be known for her quirky personality, corny jokes and long stories which you felt would never end. She carried many funny nicknames, "Missil T" - "I So Cute" - "Foxy Coxy" which were all created because of one of her foolish shenanigans. Missy was honest and didn't care about what others thought of her. She believed that everybody deserved a chance and never judged. She held a soft spot for the underdogs. Everybody that knew her just loved her - she was a beautiful "Old Soul!"
"You were just perfectly You - Contagious!"

Missy was survived by her parents Donnie and Gayla Cox of Baileyville; her grandmother and husband, Ada and George Boutot of Brookton; two brothers, Steven Cox and partner Jessica Wood and Kyler Cox and partner Brandie Bailey all of Baileyville; his sister and brother-in-law, Scott and Angel Yates of Grand Lake; niece's and nephew Donnie Cox II, Delia and Opal Yates; aunts and uncles Peggy Dean and partner Buzzy Seavey of Baileyville, Linda and Rodney Perkins of Marshall, VA and her longest best friend and special cousin Wendy Dean.

Missy was predeceased by too many. They all held special places in her life. She is now catching them all up and making them laugh with her crazy jokes, contagious laughter- All while showing that beautiful smile of hers.

She will be sadly missed!

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 6th at Scott and Angel's house, 17 Yates Cove Road, Grand Lake Stream from 2 pm till dark followed with fireworks.
