Obituary for John Murphy

Baileyville – John Franklin Murphy, 58, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2018. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick on November 15, 1960, John was the son of the late Clarence Murphy Jr. and Shirley (Strout) Murphy. After graduating from Woodland High School in 1979, John worked in the Chip Yard as a heavy equipment operator for Georgia Pacific, Domtar, and Woodland Pulp, LLC. When not working in the Chip Yard, John often worked alongside his father as a mason.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends especially at the family camp on the Lamb Farm. Although he lived life to the extreme and full of fun, John had a “heart of gold” and was the kind of man who would “give you the shirt off his back” in a time of need.

In addition to his father, John was predeceased by a very special brother-in-law, Joseph McGovern and canine companion, Kato. Surviving are his loving mother Shirley; “two greatest accomplishments”, his daughters, Erica Pike and significant other Jason Croman of Alexander and Melissa Pike and significant other Nicholas Kendall of Corinna; loving sister, Cindy McGovern of Machias; brother, best friend, and loving sister-in-law, Michael and Susan Murphy of Baileyville; half-brother, Thomas D’Alfonso of Florida; two beautiful grandchildren, Connor and Ava Croman; three nieces Jessica Murphy and significant other Andrew McBrine of Hermon, Katie Murphy and fiancée, Matthew Sawyer of Carmel, and Alexandra Lachapelle of Machias; two great-nieces, Isabella Mathews of Machias and Alayna McBrine of Hermon; and a very caring and special life-long friend, Gerard Perry of Baileyville.
