Obituary for Jeanette Ann Ramsey (Bishop)

Eastport – Jeanette Ann (Bishop) Chabot Ramsey, 75, a US Navy veteran, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta. Jeanette was born in New York City, NY, on March 28, 1941 to the late Loren Otis and Dorothy Emma Bishop, both of Vermont.

Her father was a military officer in the U.S. Army and was accompanied by his family at each assigned base. Jeanette traveled to 46 of the then 48 states and graduated from high school in Orlando, FL. She joined the U.S. Navy Waves and was stationed at NAS Pensacola, FL where she met Leo Louis Chabot of Kennebunk, ME. They were united in marriage on October 21, 1961, and had three children, Jacques Louis Chabot, Marc Loren Chabot, and Michelle Renee (Chabot) Alderman, all born in Maine.

In 1973, the marriage ended and Jeanette moved to Florida where she met Robert (Bob) John Ramsey of Fort Myers, FL. They were married in 1977 until death did they part upon Bob’s passing on Thanksgiving 1992. Between 1992 and 2001, Jeanette’s children took turns caring for her. In 2001, Jeanette moved to Eastport, Maine with her oldest son Jacques and his wife Roiann Chabot. Here, she met Roiann’s sister, Michelle Lynn Lee Marsh. They formed a solid bond that would surpass all time. “My cosmic twin,” was what Jeanette called Michelle. Jeanette always said that their relationship was God-ordained—God brought them together to support one another. They were both widows and just knew what the other needed. Together they formed a mother/daughter relationship and have been best friends ever since.

In addition to her father Loren Bishop, mother Dorothy Emma (Thompson) Bishop, and her stepmother Ruth Bishop, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Robert, her ex-husband Leo, her brother Ricky (Rick) Lee Bishop, and her sister Verna Dale (Bishop) Beck. Surviving her are three children and their families: Jacques Chabot and wife Roiann Lee of Riverview, FL, Marc, Janice and Genevieve (Jeannette’s only granddaughter) Chabot of Weeki Wachee, FL, and Michelle “Micci” Alderman and husband Joseph of Bloomingdale, GA. Jeanette also leaves behind a sister Cindy Lou Wright and husband Sonny of Orlando, FL; brother Michael (Mike) Bishop; step-brother Ron Cepragi of Orlando; step-sister Donna Johnston of Alexandria, VA; her dear friend for the last 15 years, Michelle Marsh of Eastport ME; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held 2:00, Monday, June 5th at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport with Dr. Paul Emery officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
