Obituary for Francis E Greenlaw

Francis E. Greenlaw, Sr.Calais – Francis E. Greenlaw Sr., 72, died Friday, August 19, 2005 at his residence with his family by his side. Francis was born in Calais, March 8, 1933, son of the late Parker and Addie (Fitzsimmons) Greenlaw. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, Francis married Gladys Pooler in Colorado. He was employed as a lab tech with Georgia Pacific for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Francis was a member of Milltown Fire Department for many years, where he was a past Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his nine grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of over 50 years, Gladys; four children, Lois Marie McCray and husband Steve of St. Stephen, N.B., Darlene A. Gillespie and husband Gary of Charlotte, Sheila K. LaPointe and husband John of Calais, and Francis E. Greenlaw Jr. and wife Mary of Calais; a brother, Melvin Greenlaw and wife Eleanor of Calais; four sisters, Pauline McConvey, Marion Brown, Mabel Foster and husband Robert, and Lois Greenlaw and husband Lawrence, all of Calais; nine grandchildren, Bradley, Katie, Kirk, Francis III, Dustin, Joshua, Paige, John, and Mackenzie; many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Susan Carter of Calais and Luigi Milone of South Boston, MA. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. in Calais Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’ memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401, or Community Health & Counseling Services, PO Box 425, Bangor, ME 04402.
