Obituary for Edward F. Meyers

Edward F. Meyers O.D., age 85 of Hernando, FL died July 4, 2004 at Brentwood Health Center in Lecanto, FL. He was born to Frank and Eleanor Meyers on October 28, 1918. He moved to Hernando two years ago from Dimondale, MI. He was a retired Optometrist and a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion in Calais, ME, serving several years as president. He was a member of the American Optometrist Association, Past President of the Maine Optometrist Association; he served on the Board of Directors for the Calais Regional Hospital for several years. He was a Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club in Calais and also served on the Board of Directors for the St Croix Bowling Club and the St Croix Golf Club. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Calais and of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy, in 1987. Also preceding him in death was infant son John. He is survived by his daughter Tindy Cunningham and son-in-law Don Cunningham of Hernando, FL; one sister Helen Stevens of MA; one grandchild Kathy Lawrence of Aurora, IL and two great grandchildren also of Aurora, IL; several nieces, Patricia Adams of MA, Mary Monahan of RI and Mim Westerdale of MI and one nephew Tom Day, retired Pastor Huguenot Church Berlin, Germany.
