Obituary for Douglas Sprague

Calais – Douglas R. Sprague, 59, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at a Bangor hospital with his loving wife and best friend of 42 years by his side, as well as his sister Debbie and brother-in-law Carl. Doug was born in Calais on March 23, 1959, son of Carleton and Sandra (Hewitt) Sprague.

Over the years Doug worked various jobs, including 20 years for Georgia-Pacific OSB & Marden’s. He loved to go hunting in the fall and to camp, but more than anything, he loved his family and just being at home.

In addition to his wife Bonnie, Doug is survived by his father, Carleton; sister Debbie Gordon and husband Carl of Meddybemps; brother David Sprague and wife Vicky of Bradenton, FL; brother-in-law Bruce MacMillan of St. Stephen, NB; sister-in-law Heather MacMillan of St. Stephen, NB; niece A1C Amanda Patterson, USAF, of Dover, DE; nephews Carl Gordon II of Dover, DE, and Tyler, Phillip and Cameron MacMillan of St. Stephen, NB.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Calais Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
