Obituary for Douglas Leslie Frost

Douglas L. FrostCalais – Douglas Leslie Frost, 70, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 13, 2005 at his residence. He was born in May 3, 1935 in Calais, son of the late Frank and Merietta (LaGue) Frost. Upon graduating from Calais Memorial High School in 1952, he graduated from Husson College in Accounting. He worked at Fenderson Insurance Agency, served in the National Guard, there upon he enlisted in the Navy for four years, having the privilege to serve his county and visit many countries. On completion of the military, he was employed as a Bank Manager Trainee at Calais Federal Savings and Loan under the G.I. Bill. In 1961, he went to work for A.N. Deringer Inc. Custom Broker until his retirement in 1995. Doug was elected to Calais City Council in 1977, was a past member of the Lions Club, St. Croix Bowling Club, was awarded Sportsmanship Award in 1979 at the Annual Legion Bowling Tournament, a member of Boyd-Smith Post #9779 VFW in Calais, Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion in Calais, and was a board member of Calais Federal Savings & Loan for 26 years. He had a love for music and playing guitar, enjoyed dancing, bowling, and talking to anyone who would talk to him. Doug always had a newspaper in hand or a sports program on TV. Surviving are his loving wife of over 37 years, Sharon (Clinch) Frost; a daughter Lisa Frost and companion Matt Borden of Bangor; a son Chris Clinch and wife Becky of Barrington, NH; a sister Deborah Joyce and husband Mark of Epping, NH; cousin Norma J. Manship; grandchildren, Brenna, Luke, Liam, and Kate; and three best friends, Chris Mulcahy, Dayton Dineen, and the late Rocky Johnson. Doug will be sadly missed by close relatives and many friends. Friends may call 5 – 8 Thursday, August 18, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
